Yung Walt
Born, Walter Gaines, Yung Walt is best known for his incredible and unique music. Graduating from Inglewood High in 2002, he opted to head towards a career in hip-hop. When he turned 17 he looked at his life thus far and began to think that this was his calling.
Having spent all of his youth in the Los Angeles inner city in a single parent home with his mother Lanett Reagor and younger sister Aujoneih Banks, Yung Walt conveys through words and rhymes his point of view, hardships and misfortunes growing up as a young boy to a man living in a low class area. He was blessed with an amazing opportunity when he received a full 4 year Academic Scholarship to attend Cal State Dominguez University where he attended, for a year in the year of 2004 where he then dropped out to pursue his musical dreams, a decision he was criticized for. Yung Walt has since then achieved great things including landing a hit single with Snoop Dogg on the “Welcome To Tha Church Tha Album” release on the track
“Shake Dat Sh-t,” in 2005 where he wrote and performed lyrics for the hook. He has also worked with various producers/writers such as; 1500 or Nothin, James Fauntleroy, Battlecat, Terrace Martin, Knotch and Chordz. He has recorded a solo album which is titled “Hustle 2 Struggle” and mixtape titled “The Presentation,” under the independent label “Ghetto ChildENT” ran by himself and partners Bubba and Mac Jackson. Due to the extensive street buzz and credibility created in California along with the street team and promoters, the album has managed to sell over 10,000 copies and countless free downloads in Los Angeles alone since January 2006. Currently Yung Walt has partnered up with long time friend Larrance Dopson,
CEO of 1500 or Nothin, where he is a Artist/Writer under the label and is currently working on new material. With a fresh perspective and a story to tell, it’s certain that Yung Walt will impact the world through his music. Stay tuned!
