Kenneth “BAM” Alexander Bio

Singer, Songwriter, Producer and Musician are the four words that describe the talented artist “Bam”. Kenneth Alexander Jr. was born in Inglewood, California on February 17, 1981. At the young age of 2 Kenneth would run throughout the house humming and beating on any object he could find. This is how Kenneth adopted the name “Bam”. As the toddler years progressed his family began to notice he was a natural musician. When Bam was five year old he established his first job as a drummer playing for a Pentecostal church. While at Culver City Jr. High, he was the featured drummer for the advanced High school band. He also performed with the band on Channel 5′s Morning News. It was evident that Kenneth would lead a successful life in the music industry.

In High School Bam played for the gospel choir and the jazz band, performing at school events and touring throughout the city. In the summer of 1998, he was invited to perform in Europe with the Crenshaw High School Elite Choir. After graduating high school, Bam attended California State University, Los Angeles under the Jazz Studies Program where he performed with numerous bands and combos. During the summer of 2002, Bam received a phone call from the well known Ricky Minor Agency to play for a promotional tour around the U.S. for R&B artist Novel.

1999, along with childhood friends, Bam officially formed a group by the name of 1500 or Nothin (www.1500ornothing.com). The group of talented artist consisted of a seven member band and three background singers. They toured with many artists and were the band for “Disturbing the Peace’s” and a new R&B Artist, Bobby Valentino. 1500 or Nothin also made a television appearance on The Craig Ferguson Show in 2007.

In August of 2006, both 1500 or Nothin and Bam were privileged to be the first band in history to play live drums on the well known Producer’s, “Just Blaze”, track. “Just Blaze” was the first single off of Jay Z’s come back album “Kingdom Come” entitled “Show Me What You Got.” This was released in December of 2006.

In November of 2006 Bam became a member of the new R&B band “Saintz Row, The band.” This independently signed group is a five man band; Bam, Cold Hands, The Professor, and Kidd Flyy; including a lead singer, Mr. Smith. In 2007 Bam recorded an instructional drum video produced by the Hear And Play Music Group, which can be previewed and purchased at hearandplaydrums.com.
On Halloween of 2007 Bam played for Atlantic Record hip hop artist Lupe Fiasco at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL. Since that engagement Bam has been the official drummer and musical director for all of Lupe Fiasco’s concerts.
In March 2008 he played at the SXSW Concert in Austin, TX for hip hop artist David Banner, as well as, recorded with R&B Artist Musiq Soulchild. Bam achieved a host of accomplishment in 2008; The Glow in the Dark Tour with N.E.R.D, Rihanna, and Kanye West. Television appearances such as the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, the Jimmy Kimmel Show, the Ellen Show, and MTV’s Spring Break. Bam continued to tour with Lupe Fiasco in 2008 on his European tour through the months of June and July and the Coke-a-Cola College Tour from August until December.

To date Bam is currently working with Dave Young, a Mary J Blige’s Artist, and Rap Artist T.I. In November 2009 Bam worked with Lupe on the New Moon Twilight Movie and played drums for the song “Solar Midnite” with appearances in the video. Bam is currently touring with Lupe Fiasco for his new Album Project “The Steppin Laser” which kicked off with Austrian, Japan and US Dates. He recently recorded with Busta Rhymes and Bones Thugs-N-Harmony and will be on each of their new CD releases. Bam has completed several showcase CD’s to assist with marketing his talents.

Bam’s musical goal is to play, write, and produce for artist in every category in the world of music. His career thus far is just a milestone in what’s to come.
